Mr. Darrell King, Sr. has been writing ever since the age of eight. Book Review: It was okay. I enjoyed her first novel better, "A Hustler's Wife".
A Project Chick started out fair, then slowed up for the most part of the book. But the last 4 chapters was fast and furious. It was a thick book, that wasn't a problem; the problem was the meat of the contents were slow. It's basically a narrative of a young woman who left the fast life to live the slow pace of everyday folks: probably that made the book a bit boring for me. by j844smith@aol.com

It is the story of Pamela Xavier who was left for dead by her former fiancé and follows her as she goes from Pam to Carmen. Carmen is struggling to take care of her herself and her son after living the "good life" for so long. She doesn't know how to budget her money so she's dead broke. Pam starts her own business and is renamed Carmen. Business is going well, but Carmen wants more. Soon Carmen is raking in the dough. Many urban neighbors experience young women such as Yarni and Men such as Des who end up in Penial Institutions. If you're from the late 80's early 90's you should be able to relate with the scenes, music and hustler's of that time. Nikki Turner did a good job in her debut novel.
