Behind the moss-draped trees, Mint Juleps and stately mansions of the American Deep South lies a foreboding and deadly dark side. Multimillionaire drug lords do power lunches with Southern aristocrats by day and lay waste to their rivals by night in a bloodbath not seen since the Civil War.
At the helm of the million-dollar drug deals, bling-bling lifestyle and widespread murder hails the power Lake Clan, led by ruthless New Orleans kingpins Marion "Snookey" Lake and his ambitious nephew, Rae-Kwon. The Lakes relocate to Georgia in an effort to both escape the Feds and spread their ever-growing dominance within the Southern crime infrastructure. However, they are met with immediate and violent resistance from the South Carolina’s feared Sea Island thugs who jealously guard their fertile drug turf.

Travel down I-95 South into a ruthless environment, which, until recently, lay hidden beneath the long-held façade of Southern comfort. Experience the real Dirty South.

About the Author
Mr. Darrell King, Sr. has been writing ever since the age of eight. His first published work of fiction was penned during the fall of 1976 as a student of Mary Field’s Elementary School on South Carolina’s Daufuskie Island. This effort, an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkein’s "The Hobbit," was both written and illustrated by Mr. King and was published in the school’s quarterly periodical, "The Daufuskie Kid’s Magazine." Mr. King went on to write several unpublished stories and numerous poems, several of which were published in the 1995-1996 "Poetry Anthology" by the National Library of Poetry in Owings Mills, Maryland. During the 90s, Mr. King was attracted to and inspired by the lurid tales of inner city crime and drama that he read on the pages of novels by great writers such as Donald Goines and Iceberg Slim. This, coupled with an enduring appreciation for the hard-edged, yet enlightened lyric of the era’s gangsta rap icons like Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., Easy E and others prompted Mr. King to begin writing his very own stories of urban crime and inner city drama. Mr. King resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland with his wife Sonya and their five children.

Some things I didn’t see coming. Other things were self-inflicted. I don’t regret my path in life but I could have taken a different one. So, for all the young girls growing up in the hood, let me take you back to how I grew up. Here is the Life & Times of me, Chyna Black.

About the Author: Though it maybe true, "There’s nothing new under the sun", nobody can quite write a story like Keisha Ervin. Keisha has taken the literary world by storm and has breathed new life into the urban fiction market.

Growing up, Keisha received numerous accolades and awards for her writing skills, has been honing her skills and practicing her art since childhood. However, by the time she reached her turbulent adolescent years, fate interceded, altering her childhood dreams. At the ripe old age of 18 yrs old, Keisha became a casualty of teen pregnancy. Her literary career would be a dream deferred. Refusing to become a victim of circumstance, Keisha was forced to buckle down and re-analyze the direction of her life. Accepting motherhood as a blessing in disguise rather than a curse, she was forced to mature. Realizing she had another life depending on her for survival, Keisha cleaned up her act, severing her street ties and making the successful transition to motherhood and author.

Hailing from the Midwest, St. Louis, MO to be exact, Keisha Ervin is determined to bring more long deserved recognition to her birthplace just as rappers Nelly, The St. Lunatics and Chingy have done.

Diva by Kane & Abel -Triple Crown Publications/Trade Paper- $15.00

SAVE BIG NOW 25% OFF  $10.50 Order by Check, Money Order & Call-In Credit

The backdrops are voluptuous, the villains dastardly, the beauties full of fire in this lightweight, minimally historic novel set in the years before World War I. There's a nice wry edge to the relationship between gorgeous Moira Devereaux and her equally stunning daughter, Maeve, both of whose affairs and temperamental outbursts fill these pages. After Patrick Devereaux is executed for treason against the colonial British government in South Africa, his hot-headed wife and teenage daughter are flung into a Boer prison compound. When the camp is liberated by dashing Sean Farrell, bastard prince of the tiny country of Montenegro, Maeve fires the shot that saves his life and kills a hated jailer. Then it's off to the playgrounds of Europe, where Moira collects adventurers and glittering jewels, while Maeve rises quickly from Parisian dance hall girl to acclaimed diva. She marries a German baron, but pines occasionally for her black-haired hero, Sean. A sea of contrived troubles later, the Balkans and Europe overheat and Maeve gets her man. The pace drags at times and Maeve's career is merely one predictable triumph after another. This is an entertaining saga, nonetheless, with a winning heart. 35,000 first printing; $35,000 ad/promo. Book Review: It was okay. I enjoyed her first novel better, "A Hustler's Wife".
A Project Chick started out fair, then slowed up for the most part of the book. But the last 4 chapters was fast and furious. It was a thick book, that wasn't a problem; the problem was the meat of the contents were slow. It's basically a narrative of a young woman who left the fast life to live the slow pace of everyday folks: probably that made the book a bit boring for me.
by j844smith@aol.com

Book Review: I think the book Project Chick was an amazing follow up to A Hustler's Wife. I really enjoyed it. It kinda kept you on your feet in suspense. I can't wait for Girls in da Hood this summer. I know it will be great. So good luck Nik....And once again it's on!!! by Kelli

Book Review: This was a good book because it kept your suspense level high and it had real plots that you could actually find in everyday life. The weakness of this book would have to be all the typos, how it shifts from third to first, and how it shifts from past to present tense. sixdeuce50@yahoo.com

Book Review: (A PROJECT CHICK) I JUST GOT FINISHED READING THE BOOK & IT WAS MADD GOOD.i WAS REALLY SHOCKED @ THE END 'BOUT LUCK. BUT THE BOOK HAS MADD TYPE-O'S. IT SHOULD BE READ OVER TO BE WRITTEN THE CORRECT WAY. BUT OTHER THEN THAT IT WAS OFF THE CHAINS. I ALSO READ (A HUSSLA WIFE) THAT BOOK WAS SPICIE TOO. KEEP UP THE WORK

"It’s the penthouse or the morgue." This is the philosophy adopted by Keshawn Wilson, a.k.a. ‘K-Dawg,’ self-proclaimed lord of the streets. Keshawn is the youngest of five kids and one of only two that doesn’t belong to his mother’s husband. As a little boy he feels the distance between he and his stepfather, and life becomes increasingly difficult for him as the years pass; his childhood and young adult years are spent in a home for boys and state prison, where he serves time for manslaughter. It is during his time behind bars, amongst hardened criminals, that the seeds of evil take root in his life and mercilessly transform him from an innocent child to a heartless, conniving menace, better known as ‘K-Dawg.’

K-Dawg decides that the world owes him something, and when he is released from prison he intends to take it. He comes up with the ultimate power move that is sure to put him on top of the game or under the earth. He wants it all, and he is dead set on having it—no matter what the cost. He has nothing to lose…and everything to gain.

Book Review: 5-5-03 Let That Be The Reason, was an excellent read. I purchased the book lunchtime and skipped dinner so that I could keep read. This is a definite read!

Book Review: Let That be The Reason... I didn't think this was a great book at all. It was a filler; The writing technique was awful; I had to keep glancing at the page numbers to make sure I wasn't turning 2 pages at a time.  every chapter I veered of on a different topic. I was Lost! Denise dreamsink@hotmail.com

Book Review: 9-3-02 Let That Be the Reason by Vickie Stringer: Let That Be the Reason is a good read. It is the story of Pamela Xavier who was left for dead by her former fiancé and follows her as she goes from Pam to Carmen. Carmen is struggling to take care of her herself and her son after living the "good life" for so long. She doesn't know how to budget her money so she's dead broke. Pam starts her own business and is renamed Carmen. Business is going well, but Carmen wants more. Soon Carmen is raking in the dough. With this new found wealth comes a lot of drama and it may also cost her, her life. Babygirl1278@hotmai.com

Gangsta: An Urban Tragedy

A word to the reader: The tale I’m about to run down to you is deep, so please pay close attention. It is a tale that reflects a lot of what we go through today as being young men of color. We struggle every day trying to make ends meet, in a world that ain’t got a whole lot of love for us. We do what we can when we can in hopes of a better tomorrow, that never seems to come. We do what we have to in order to get the things we need, for ourselves, as well as our loved ones. Whether you hustle, pimp, whore, or pull heist, I feel you. It's all in the name of survival. I feel you because I am you. The endangered species. The young black man. Whether this book sells one copy or one million, it is what it is, only god can dictate fate. But if I can help somebody by putting my thoughts to paper, then I’ve accomplished something. To those who came up under me, peep-game. To my elders, I’ve learned from your mistakes, so your lessons weren’t wasted nor your warnings unheeded. To those who feel misunderstood or unwanted, walk with me, and know that you’re not alone. To those who feel that life has only given one option, there’s light at the end of every tunnel. I don’t knock nobodies hustle cause survival is rule number one. But you gotta understand that we do have options, all we gotta do is look. I know to a lot of people, this probably sounds like some ol’ bull shit, but I’m speaking from the heart. A heart just like yours. The heart of a man who has fallen time and again only to rise and continue on, so you know its possible. Walk with me, my niggaz, as I tell you about my peoples...

...THEY CALLED HIM LOU-LOC, AND THIS IS HIS STORY --- K'wan, Author, "Gangsta"

Book Review: Gangsta by Kwan. If you thought True to the Game was a raw page turner, then you will not be able to put this book down. It was street, grimy, real and just plain Gangsta. I felt as though I had known Lou-Loc for years. Thank you Kwan for taking me on this journey. shoefiend22@yahoo.com

Book Review: Gangsta....That book was an excellent read. Especially if you know people in the same predictament. You can sub each character and get the true feeling. Just put yourself somewhere in the book and you'll neva turn away. K'wan did a great job. Rae Ray Rae_Ray@blackplanet.com

Book Review: "Gangsta" I really enjoyed the book it made you feel like you really know some of the characters. Keep you the good work, can wait for your next book.

Book Review: Gangsta... This is going to be a classic years from now. Gangsta is raw and street, but it has a lot of jewels in it for the reader to think over. Has anybody figured out who this Cross character is? The way, K'wan tells a story is crazy. You feel like your living through the book. "Gangsta" is my pick for #1 Pfunk66@hotmail.com

This novel portrays the life of Yarni, a sweet and innocent girl from a well-to-do family. By chance she meets Richmond Virginia's notorious drug kingpin, Des. Immediately they develop an astronomical love, which separates her from her family and friends. But when Des is sentenced to life in prison, Yarni will learn being A Hustler's Wife isn't easy with her sole provider behind bars.

Book Review: A Hustler's Wife -- This urban tale of Yarni causes the reader to take a journey into Richmond, VA, to understand the underground world that was represented. Many urban neighbors experience young women such as Yarni and Men such as Des who end up in Penial Institutions. If you're from the late 80's early 90's you should be able to relate with the scenes, music and hustler's of that time. Nikki Turner did a good job in her debut novel. I hope to read another novel from her soon. Precioustymesent@aol.com

Book Review: A Huslter's Wife...Super reading! I think that every adult female should grab a copy and think about is the game really worth playing these days. Keep it up Nikki.... (Lisa 2lw69@msn.com)
